Thang Thang is a Korean restaurant tucked away on Engineer Road in San Diego, offering a relaxed spot for anyone craving comforting Korean fare, especially in the evening hours. The vibe here leans toward intimate and casual, making it a fitting choice for low-key dinners with friends or family, particularly when you want to unwind without the rush or noise of a busy downtown spot.

Inside, the setting is unpretentious and comfortable, with technology integrated thoughtfully—orders are placed via a screen at the table, which can appeal to diners who prefer a no-fuss way to browse the menu and request service at their own pace. This also softens any pressure for those who might feel anxious about ordering in unfamiliar settings.

The menu highlights a variety of Korean classics like Haemul Pajeon (seafood pancake), spicy Daeji Galbi Jjim (braised pork ribs), and the ever-popular Korean chicken prepared in wings or drumsticks, balanced by the array of traditional banchan side dishes. The food tends toward the spicy and flavorful side, which pairs well with their selections of sake and beer, making it an inviting spot for those who enjoy bold tastes.

Locals seem to appreciate visiting Thang Thang later at night, especially those looking for good Korean food when other places have closed. The restaurant’s compact parking lot means street parking is often the fallback, so a little extra patience may be needed when arriving during busier times. Early dinners present a quieter atmosphere, while weekends and late evenings have a livelier, friendly energy without feeling overwhelming.

Overall, Thang Thang fits well for people seeking a straightforward, genuine Korean dining experience where casual meets a touch of tech convenience, and where the focus is on sharing hearty, spicy dishes with friends or family in a modest but welcoming setting.

OMG one of a FEW late night spots in San Diego - is chill nothing over the top but friendly, respectful service. Highly recommend! Oh and if you have a FOODIE KID they'll love it here!

Looking for a great intimate place to hang with friends and drink? I recommend thang thang. I went here early dinner so it was pretty quiet. However, I can imagine this place being busy during the night and weekends. This is a great hidden spot off engineer road. If you’re looking for some Korean chicken and some beer this is the place to go. The atmosphere is pretty intimate and chill. And the service was great! The girls there were quick to serve and there is a call button in case it gets busy. Recommend The side dishes were bomb And always always get the chicken Be careful of spicy though if you’re sensitive. It’s pretty hot.

I don’t know any of the food items names other than the corn cheese but the images will speak for themselves. The food is good and SPICY. What rhymes with spicy, a lil pricey.

This place is exactly what we were wanting after a long day with the craving of warm Korean food late at night. Packing lot is a bit small but there's street parking. When you are seated you order off the screen at the table. Select everything you want then send in the order. You can use it to also call a waiter over or Ali for the bill. It's perfect for people with anxiety of ordering. The food came out fairly fast and man it was all pipping hot. Everything was what we were drooling and dreaming for. Kimchi pancake was huge and so filling. The Gyoza Mandu were so tasty I would've gotten 2 orders; delicious and salty dipping sauce. My ramen was very hot and flavorful. A bit more veggies than I expected and the beef was a bit tough. Still yummy I'm going to try spam next The soondubu was boiling and ready for the egg to be cracked in. It was devoured. Ambiance is so laid back there are booths lining the walls and tables in the middle too. We can't wait to come here with our friends!!

My parents in law tried Korean food for the first time! We ordered spicy dawji galbi jjim, soy drumsticks, bulgogi, corn cheese, rice and of course banchan. The food was amazing, they loved it and I loved it too! We even had some leftovers. The place was nice, the servers were awesome. It was great dinner for us.

I was craving some Korean food late in the evening and found a place open until 1:30am, so I dragged my friend to try it out with me. When we arrived, the waitress barely acknowledged us, leaving us to stand awkwardly at the door until she finally waved us to a table at the back. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, so we were surprised by the waitress's short and upset demeanor. It took a few minutes for her to bring us menus and water. After we ordered, we decided to draw on the blackboards covering the walls around our seat. We ordered dduboki, sweet chili drumsticks, pork katsu, and a regular lychee soju cocktail. When everything arrived, we were pleased with the large portions. However, we noticed we received a large cocktail instead of a regular one. Despite trying to get the waitress's attention multiple times, we were ignored, so we ended up keeping the large drink. Thoughts on the food: - **Dduboki:** The classic dduboki is hard to mess up. Despite the $15 price point suggesting something special, it tasted good, though not exceptional for SoCal. 7.5/10 - **Sweet chili drumsticks:** One of my favorite dishes at Korean restaurants is their fried chicken. These were fantastic with perfectly crispy skin and a sweet yet spicy sauce. 9.2/10 - **Pork Katsu:** This dish leaned towards the drier side. The flavor was good, but the pork was too thin compared to the crust. 5/10 - **Lychee soju cocktail:** A tasty cocktail that made the night more fun. The large size was meant for sharing, but I enjoyed it alone. 8/10

I love it here. It's never too crowded and is designed in a way where you get privacy almost anywhere you sit. It's cozy and always feels just right for the end of a long day especially if you're looking for somewhere more laid back and not as busy. The staff is always quick, kind, and attentive. One of my favorite spots that nobody knows about
